بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيم
A Moulana who was Hadhrat’s student once remarked:
“I always remember not to drink water with the left hand. Once in Saharanpur, I joined Hadhrat on the dastarghaan for meals. I drank water with my left hand. In a very soft and polite tone Hadhrat explained to me: “Brother, one should not drink with the left hand. One must drink with the right hand.”
On another occasion, I happened to drink using the left hand again and Hadhrat once more said to me in a polite and soft tone to drink with my right hand. The third time this happened Hadhrat slapped me. Thereafter I never again drank with my left hand.
Such is the Rahmat in the slap of a wali that a sunnah was respected and practised and Thawaab obtained for the rest of life. From the above incident we understand how meticulous our Akaabiren were in upholding the Sunnah. Sadly, nowadays we see the Sunnah being slaughtered. We prefer to emulate the enemies of Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم in our eating method and dressing etc. May Allah Ta’ala grant us the taufeeq to value every Sunnah. (Ameen)
